Ahhh…that summertime warmth. It feels so good to be headed into the warmer months of the year, no? And with the arrival of sunny days ahead here in Texas, I’ve begun to incorporate brighter colors and shorter styles (hello bare legs!) into my weekly wardrobe rotation.
When I first saw this skirt a few months ago, I knew I needed to have it. It’s bright white, which means it’s versatile and will go with just about anything. (For a more casual look, I’m planning on pairing it with this chambray popover and some simple white sandals.) It’s also a cotton blend, which means it’s perfect for those hot, humid days in south Texas when heavier fabric just won’t do. And last but not least, it’s a pencil silhouette–and we all know how much I love pencil skirts (here, here, here).
But what really sold me on this skirt was the fun lace detailing along the hemline, in the prettiest flower stitch. It’s the sweetest touch to a classic skirt.
To mimic the delicate floral details of the skirt, I also added in a cutesy crystal flower necklace and some shimmery heels (last seen here) for some added sparkle.
My favorite shade of bright pink lipstick was an obvious next step, as I love the way a bright pink lips can really enhance the rosiness in your cheeks during the warmer summer months.
For some fun pops of color, I added one of my all time favorite tops in the prettiest purple-pink check pattern. I have this top in so many colors, it’s a little embarrassing… But I’m glad I snatched them up when I did because J. Crew Factory started using a different fabric blend over the past couple years that I’m not a huge fan of. But I’ve linked a similar colored top below if you are interested!
I especially love how this purple-pink top pairs with so many other bright colors, like this minty fresh crossbody bag that adds a nice refreshing kick to the whole look. And the size of this bag just happens to be the perfect size for a small wallet, phone, and lip stain on the weekend or to lunch dates when you don’t want to lug a huge bag around town.
