Happy Friday, friends! Guess what?!… Finals are OVAAA! And now it’s finally, officially time to get into the holiday spirit. No holding back now!

Last week, I styled this perfect plaid shirt for a more casual setting here. Today I’m showing you how I would dress it up for the office, and perhaps even a holiday party. This skirt is called ‘the perfect party skirt‘ after all. 😉

As soon as I saw this skirt, I knew I had to have it. It’s the perfect combination of everything I love. It’s in my favorite cut–the classic pencil skirt. It’s a thicker tweed material that adds texture to any outfit. It’s got sexy black lace trim. Aaaand it’s even got sparkles so that it shimmers in the light! Need I say more? It truly is the perfect party everywhere skirt.

So when styling this skirt for the holiday season, I knew all it needed was this festive plaid shirt and some red suede shoes to really amp up the Christmas vibes.J. Crew Party Skirt and Tartan Plaid Button Up | www.cupcakesandthecosmos.com

I’m all about adding in color when I can, so these burgundy pumps were a no-brainer for me. But classic black heels or sparkly bow flats would’ve looked just as festive too.

So as not to take away from the center-stage elements of the plaid and skirt combo, I chose a minimalist clutch in solid black to keep the look simple yet classy. Note: in dire situations, said purse should always be swapped for tacky tinsel…

Throw in some tacky tinsel and you’ve got yourself a party!

I added some sparkle to the ensemble with my favorite necklace of the season. Unfortunately it’s sold out already, but I’ve linked a similar one below that is just as pretty and versatile. These collar crystal necklaces (as I call them) add the perfect amount of sparkle without taking over the show. They have a way of outlining collars and necklines that really brings the whole look together. Here it adds a subtle touch of femininity to the more masculine collar and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. (I wore it the same way here.)

As a finishing touch, I added my favorite shade of cherry red lipstick to complete this holiday party look. Bring on the festivities!
