Date Night at Pizzeria Locale

Hi, friends! A few weeks ago, Allen and I ventured out on the Boulder town to try a new-to-us restaurant for date night–Pizzeria Locale.

Allen and I are both very much home-bodies, so getting out on the town becomes something we do only on very special occasions…or in this case, something we make into a very special occasion! And let’s be honest…the one thing that never fails at getting us out the door and being more social is food. What can I say? We love our food! Since moving to Colorado last fall, it’s been a mission of mine to try as many new restaurants as I can and to determine all my favorites (#95 of my 101 in 1001 list). So Pizzeria Locale was an obvious next choice!

Pizzeria Locale makes some of the freshest, most authentic pizzas here in the Boulder area. In my opinion, pizza is one of those foods that is easily dressed down for a casual game night at home, or in this case dressed up for a romantic night out on the town. Additionally, we all know I’m a sucker for trying out new unique combinations for toppings, which Pizzaeria Locale does a fantastic job of.

Since we were meeting up for our date night after work, we wanted to get something with a little kick in it to sip on after a long day at the office. Allen and I are pretty picky when it comes to our drinks–we tend to like only the sweetest of wines. So for a pre-meal cocktail, we ordered the Limoncello cocktail, which has Prosecco wine shaken with Limoncello and basil. It was the perfect amount of sweet and spritzy, and was surprisingly refreshing too!

One of my favorite features about Pizzeria Locale is its open kitchen. I love the smell of all the fresh ingredients–juicy ripe tomatoes, sweet herby basil, and pungent salty mozzarella– and the warmth of the stone fire pit. It’s so much fun to watch the chefs at work making your pizza from scratch.

It’s a little slice of Italy right here in Boulder. Yum!

As for my date night attire, I knew I’d be coming straight from work, so I wanted to make sure I was wearing something that was both office-appropriate but also edgy enough for a date night.

I chose a romantic color palette of blush and white. There’s just something so sweet yet understated about it, no? And I love that this blush cami can be romantic in the evening while still being professional during the day, depending oh how you layer it. As for these ivory dress pants, they are my go-to piece year-round, but especially in the spring and summer because of their versatility. They are the perfect piece when I want diversity away from skirts and dresses without resorting to my heavier weighted wool pants of winter.

And for a play on proportions, I added a classic black longline vest for a lengthening element that added an edgier vibe to the otherwise sweeter color palette.

For date nights when I want to feel especially put together and classy, I like sticking with simple and classic jewelry. This Kendra Scott stone bracelet and necklace make a groovy yet elegant addition to the romantic style. I love how they give a node towards the sparkly geodes I lust over in museums, but in a subtle way that bodes of elegance and without being to flashy like a traditional ‘statement piece’.

And no date night ensemble is complete without a little sparkle, right? These glitzy heels are some of my favorites (last seen here) and I wear them as much as I can get away with.

I paired everything with an oversized, soft blush clutch and my date night attire was complete!

As for dinner, we ordered the Salsiccia Bianca pizza that is topped with fennel sausage, broccoli rabe, smoked scamorza, garlic, and a generous portion of mozzarella cheese. It was the perfect mix of salty and savory pizza I had been craving. I would highly, highly recommend it, in addition to the traditional Margherita pizza as well.

There aren’t many places I can boast of who take me back to my summer in Italy , but Pizzeria Locale is definitely one of them.

Usually much too full for dessert after dinner, we made sure to save room by splitting the pizza (a little Lady and the Tramp moment).  For our final course we splurged on the Torta di Caprese, a light hazelnut chocolate cake that almost melted in your mouth–a truly perfect ending to the sweetest date night.

For those of you in the Boulder/Denver area, do you have any recommendations on your favorite date night spots? We love trying out new spots when we can!

Love the Pizzeria Locale sounds yummy and laid back. I checked out your 101 things in 1001 days list, absolutely thought it was great. I am such a “To Do List”, “Goals List” gal, I just almost hate to not have them, but for that reason. I am adding “being more spontaneous” in my weekly routine. Ha We shall see how it goes.
