Fall Fashion STYLE

Gingham + Corduroy

Hi, friends! Whew! We have a lot to catch up on–including the weekend around our engagement and my Fall 10×10 recap! And I promise, I will get those posts up soon. But for today’s post, I’m sharing a fun fall-inspired outfit that mixes two of my favorite fall patterns–gingham and corduroy!

Corduroy is such a fun fall fabric to mix into your wardrobe. I haven’t yet found the perfect pair of corduroy pants (wish I could’ve snagged some of these before they sold out), but having a corduroy mini skirt has been my favorite way to incorporate the fabric into my fall looks. You might remember this fall look from last year, which is still one of my favorites! And today’s look is a more comfy casual take on how to style a corduroy skit in the fall.

I paired my skirt here with a button-front gingham cami that I picked up from Madewell earlier this summer. But really any kind of gingham top would be perfect for pairing here, including a classic boyfriend button-up. And to add some warmth and color to the look, I layered the coziest maroon-colored cardigan over top. I particularly love how the length of the sweater is just a little longer than the skirt length–it adds such fun visual interest!

As for shoes, I paired my favorite black clogs with the look, but black ankle booties would have worked just as well too! For me, it’s the black color of the shoes that really works to pull this look together because it connects the black of the gingham top with the brown of the corduroy skirt. And in fact, this is my favorite way to mix blacks and browns into an outfit cohesively–pulling it together with a coordinating shoe!
