Spring Fashion STYLE

Pink Spring Blooms

Spring has finally sprung in Boulder and I couldn’t be more excited for warmer weather on the horizon. One of my favorite ways to ring in the new season is to pull out all my spring and summer tops from storage and to slowly add them back into my wardrobe. Spring can still be quite cold (it did snow in the middle of May last year), so I like to mix in my warmer weather tops with things I’ve had in my closet from the winter, like jeans and light-weight sweaters. The best transitional outfit, in my opinion, is one that borrows from the staples of each season.

You may remember this top from last summer when I wore it with floral shorts on my birthday. That was one of my favorite outfits of all time. And I also have the red version of this top that I styled for Valentine’s Day in this post. It’s a great ruffled, off-the-shoulder cut for spring or summer when you want to wear something a little more flirty and fun. And the fact that it has one shoulder on and one shoulder off means it won’t get in the way of moving your arms freely, like some off-the-shoulder tops do. My exact top is old from Sincerely Jules, but I love this pretty striped one from Sezane this year.

I styled it here with high-waisted jeans in a medium wash (you can see the darker wash styled multiple ways here) and bright magenta slides that pair perfectly with the pretty pink spring blooms in Denver.

Another spring trend that I am very into–straw bags! My love of straw bags started last summer when I got this cute crossbody bag for my birthday. This summer I have tried to get a couple new ones that are unique but still practical to carry all my essentials on the weekend. I love that this one here is reminiscent of a picnic basket. It’s very playful and fun for summer. And like I mentioned in this post, adding a colorful scarf is the best way to add a bright pop of color to your look and to personalize your bag to any outfit.

And what outfit of mine would be complete without the perfect spring-weight cardigan in a matching pink color?! If you’ve been following me for long, you know I have these J. Crew cardigans in every color under the Sun and get ample use out of them year-round! They are a great way to change the colors of an outfit up while keeping your shoulders covered–whether it’s for warmth in the A/C or for conservative-ness at the office.
