Breezy Maxi Skirt in Panajachel

After spending most of our trip in the charming city of Antigua, we took a quick day trip to the shimmering water town of Panajachel, nestled neatly along the coast of beautiful Lake Atitlan. I’ll do a full recap of our time in the town, but today wanted to share with you the breezy maxi skirt I wore to explore Panajechel.

The weather was very warm in Guatemala while we were there (early January), so I knew I would want to bring plenty of colorful, simple basics to mix and match on the trip. (You can read all about those in this post if you are interested.) And while most of my clothing consisted of shorts and mini skirts, I knew I wanted to bring a fun breezy maxi skirt to the lake. This one is an oldie-but-goodie from Francesca’s, but I’ve been loving the new ones coming out as spring/summer approaches. (I just ordered this one.) And this breezy dress looks almost identical to the outfit I’ve put together here (but in a single piece!).

It was quite hot in Panajachel, even with a cami and breathable skirt, so some of the time I would even tie half of the skirt up in a cute knot at my knees to give my legs a breeze.

I also brought my favorite panama hat to keep the sun off my face and to give the outfit a more beachy vibe that fit the surroundings. I got mine at Target (from the Men’s section). And while I’ve always wanted to invest in a really nice one, I’m glad I took one that wasn’t too precious to me. Sometimes I end up feeling bad about wearing pieces that seem too nice or expensive to me, in an attempt to keep them nice. Do you ever do that? I’m that way with sunglasses too, so I always just get pairs that are reasonably priced at Target or Urban Outfitters so I’ll actually wear them!

This marine blue cami is made out of the same polyester material I talked about here, and so breathes really well! No joke, I don’t have to worry about sweating and still feeling dry an hour later. It’s great! And they come in a variety of colors! J. Crew has a similar silk version, but I love that these are machine washable. I like to wear them with a pencil skirt and colorful cardigan to work too! It’s a piece that works for both vacation and the office. 😉

As for footwear, I exclusively wore my Josef Seibel sandals the entire trip, including our time in Panajachel. I couldn’t recommend them more! No complaints whatsoever. And I love that they are both comfy and stylish! They come in a variety of different colors too.

Can’t wait to show you more photos from our time in Guatemala! Until then, I’ll leave you with this shot overlooking Lake Atitlan and a nearby volcano. Take me back…
