Go for Launch

Hello and welcome to Cupcakes and the Cosmos! I have been dreaming of starting this blog for nearly 3 years now and am finally in a place in my life where I can dedicate the time I want to it!

First off, I should introduce myself… My name is Kristin and I am a graduate student studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Saying that I am passionate about space exploration and anything to do with science (especially sci-fi movies and the like) would be a serious understatement. I’ve actually been co-oping at NASA Johnson Space Center since my sophomore year of college.  Aside from my love of outer space, I am an athlete (runner, skier, and soccer player) and enjoy exploring my creative side with cooking, home décor, diy projects, and my own personal ‘fashion’ style.

I thought it would be fun to start a blog that shares the style I create in my life with you—someone who shares my interests or is just looking for practical ways of balancing their career life (mine as an engineering student) with their personal life.

In addition, this blog serves as a place for me to share my adventures with family and friends back home and to meet new friends along the way.

I’m originally from Tulsa, OK and have lived in College Station, TX for the past 7 years while attaining my B.S. and M.S. degrees. With the recent move to Boulder, CO to start my Ph.D. program, I knew that I needed a better way to stay in touch with those I love, while also creating a forum where new friendships could blossom. Cupcakes and the Cosmos fills this need perfectly!

Ultimately what I hope to share with you through this blog is my love of life and my passion for exploring the cosmos around us. As a documentary of my lifestyle, I will share more than just my taste in fashion. Other topics include my passion for space exploration, my fitness and health endeavors, favorite recipes and entertaining adventures, and anything else under the Milky Way. I am beyond excited to finally start this new adventure in my life, so here we go! 3-2-1 Launch!
