Vintage Print + Marigold

Happy Friday! Isn’t it just wonderful?! It’s Fri-yay!

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping. It’s the most beautiful time of the year! …when the leaves start turning brilliant golds and rich reds. …and the wind ever so subtly bites at your nose. It’s fall!! It’s fall in love with fall season! And I couldn’t be happier about it.

I love this transition time between summer and winter, when it’s not too hot and not too cold. It pushes me to be more creative with my wardrobe–mixing my summer brights with winter knits. It’s always an experiment to see what new and fun outfits I can concoct. The possibilities are endless!

This skirt, for one, is my new favorite piece. The pattern plays homage to a vintage flea market find, while still being vibrant and flirty. (See my last vintage inspiration here). And I can wear it right into winter with dark black tights and a chunky sweater, or I can dress it up with a blouse and cardigan for work.  My favorite part? I love giving it a twirl…or two…or three.

The bold pattern of this skirt was just begging to be paired with another bright color. And since I’m in love with the color of the changing leaves, marigold seemed like the perfect pop to pair with. The sheer fabric of this top is just flowy enough to allow movement without being too see-through for work or too breezy for the cooler autumn evenings. And it’s actually a longer tunic length that I’m planning to pair with skinny jeans, or even leggings, in the comming weeks.

For louder contrasting details, I added black and gold accessories, which added definition to the otherwise bright summery-look of the ensemble. Adding harsher details is just another way I like to mix things up during this transition.

And of course, I added my signature red lip and one of my all time favorite accessories–a happy necklace. Because, who isn’t bursting with happy this time of year?

Between the cooler mornings and warmer afternoons, this time of transition can be tricky to dress for. But getting creative with mixing and matching the pieces you have in your wardrobe can open up endless possibilites. So embrace it! Experiment with it! And above all else, have fun with it!
