Kate Spade Inspired Floral Skirt + Contrast Panel Blouse

Happy Monday, friends! Today I’m sharing another working wear look that takes inspiration from one of my favorite designers–Kate Spade.

I’ve always loved the sweet prints and feminine details of Kate Spade pieces. The company just has a way of making classic pieces feel updated and sophisticated for women. But after Kate Spade Saturday closed (a more affordable option), there just weren’t as many opportunities for me as a graduate student to afford their more expensive price tags. So instead, I looked for ways I could incorporate the Kate Spade aesthetic into my wardrobe at a fraction of the price.

One of the things that sets Kate Spade pieces apart is their attention to detail. That’s why when I saw this contrast panel blouse with a scallop detail on the Banana Republic clearance rack, I knew it would fit the K.S. aesthetic perfectly. (I’ve linked a bunch of similar options below!)

In addition to being an updated version of the classic white blouse (I love the fun scalloped edge detailing!), I also like that the top stays in the black-and-white color realm and can be worn several different ways, time and time again. For instance, it would look just as great with a pair of dark skinny jeans with a fun citron blazer for a date night as it would with a classic pencil skirt for work. Pieces like this that can be built upon to create a plethora of looks for a variety of situations are wardrobe warriors in my opinion.

And perhaps the most eye-catching piece of this entire look is this floral print skirt. Kate Spade is known for their bright colors and bold prints that are effortlessly chic and timeless. So finding this floral print skirt was like stumbling upon a hidden treasure for me. Can you believe I actually found this skirt at Target as a part of the Who What Wear x Target collection? And speaking of WWW x Target, have you guys checked out their collection yet? The partnership actually launched around the time I heard them speak in Dallas at the Create + Cultivate conference, and they come out with new pieces each season. (I’ve worn another one of their skirts in this post.)

At any rate, it’s a great line to follow for trend-worthy pieces at a fraction of the cost. And the skirt I’m wearing here is no exception. It screams Kate Spade style in my opinion and I love that the classic A-line cut of the skirt and the sweet floral print are details that will never go out of style. Other classic pieces that are very Kate Spade? I love these black suede chunky heeled pumps from J. Crew Factory (they are my favorite style of heels, ever, and I have them in multiple colors). I also love the classic quilted leather texture of this Michael Kors purse, which has the ability to elevate just about any look you pair it with. I’ve worn it here, here, here and here. It’s definitely an investment piece (mine was  a Christmas present from my mom), but one you will wear again and again.
