LIFE SERIES The Little Things

The Little Things

This past week was one of the highlights of my entire summer. I had the unique opportunity to be a NASA mentor for the High School Aerospace Scholars Program. During the week long program, students from across Texas had the opportunity to come to Johnson Space Center and work with NASA engineers to design a manned mission to Mars. I’ve known for quite some time that I have a passion for STEM outreach and working with high school to early term college students in particular. It just brings me so much joy! So. Much. Joy! I couldn’t stop smiling all week long. And with all the stress I’ve had with my end of tour duties at NASA, a week full of exciting the next generation of space explorers was just what I needed.

As for this weekend, I’m actually headed back to Boulder for lots of good eats, my first Red Rocks concert (ahhh!) and one last long hike in RMNP before our week-long backpacking trip through Bryce and Zion at the beginning of August. Getting so excited!! You can follow along here for more regular updates of what I’m up to in Colorado this weekend if you’re interested! Beyond that, I’m planning on keeping my head down and working hard the next couple weeks to finish out my tour strong here at NASA. Below are a few of the little things that brightened my week. I hope you have a great weekend!

I love your blog, you are quite an amazing and inspirational person! I’ve never been very good at math, but you might like my flower, it’s called… “Cosmos Cupcakes” 🙂 if you google images, it will come up, it’s a special Cosmos b. flower where the petals all fused together in one circular petal, giving is a cup or bowl shape. It’s so neat you are doing the mentoring, Wow you have great gifts, wishing you a beautiful path in Life, Best Diane
