Happy happy Friday, friends! Did you have a fantastic week?! With my birthday on Tuesday, I thought I’d keep it nice and casual this Friday in a new favorite summer chambray top.
One of my favorite go-to pieces (year-round, really) is the classic chambray buttonup (last seen here). It’s seriously one of the most versatile pieces in my closet and goes with just about any pop of color I want to pair it with–I especially love yellow! So it was a no-brainer to add a few new denim-esque pieces of the same accord to my summer wardrobe. …Especially with the recent move to Houston, where the humidity and triple digit temperatures make long sleeves a definite no-go.
The first time I wore this denim top, I paired it with my darkest wash of skinny jeans, some fresh perforated leather kicks, and a bubbly yellow necklace for a fun pop.
Here, however, I paired this denim top with my favorite white jeans for a fresh take on the denim-on-denim trend. Don’t you just love the way the bold blue denim and bright white jeans contrast to form the perfect color combination?! So fresh and bright for summertime.
What really inspired this outfit, though, was this neon flower necklace I found in the kids section at J. Crew. I love how playful the ruffled flowers and sparkly rhinestones make this outfit–perfect for any weekend spent out and about! This outfit just screams summertime and brings me right back to my days of being a kid at summer art camp.
To play up the neon colors of the necklace (and really make it pop!), I added in a neon pink clutch, fun enamel bracelet, and my favorite flower sandals (ever!). I haven’t seen these sandals since I first got them roughly ~7 years ago, but I’ve linked some really cute, similar options below. If you’ve seen any recently…LET ME KNOW! I’ve all but worn through the black pair I have, and still refuse to let them go. 😛
At any rate, I love how adding in these fun details of bright pinks and neon oranges brings this somewhat classic denim look right into summertime fun.
