Maroon + Hot Pink

Happy Tuesday, friends! Did you enjoy your 3-day weekend? Or did you have to work yesterday? (<– if you did work, you are way ahead of the rest of us!) As for me, let’s just say that I’ve waited long enough to start my homework to make this week very interesting. Very interesting, indeed…but I digress.

When it comes to color combinations I love, maroon and hot pink is at the top of my list. I’ve never really been one to go all out in hot pink…it draws too much attention to me in my humble opinion. I am an engineer after all. 😉

So one way I like to incorporate pink into my everyday wardrobe is though accessories. Like adding this statement clutch, or pairing these super soft suede pumps (last seen here), or wearing this sweet shade of lipstick.

With maroon and hot pink, there’s just something about the two that works! While they both come from the same ‘red’ family, they’ve got a great contrast between them that really helps to play the other up. And I love that the combination is sweet without being too adorable or even flashy.

Here, I went with a more casual look, pairing this maroon sweater with my favorite skinny jeans and pink suede pumps. This sweater is seriously the perfect weight–not too heavy and not too light. And its cotton fabric is breathable but with a more structured build, falling somewhere between a sweater and your most loved tee.

I’d also love to try this color combination at work sometime. I absolutely love Kristin’s take on it here, and I’ve got the perfect burgundy blazer for it.

And for those extra cold days…which happen more often than not here in Colorado…I add a faux fur pom-pom beanie for some cute, cold weather flair.
