Nautical Outfit for Dinner on the Docks

Hi, friends! Today I’m sharing one final look from my summer in Houston before jumping right into FALL on the blog. (I have so much fun content coming your way, trust me!) But for today, we’re traveling back to Kemah Boardwalk and I’m sharing a fun, nautical outfit that would be perfect for dinner on the docks, and maybe even a quick round or two at the carnival afterwards!

Kemah Boardwalk is such a fun place to go! It’s right on the waterfront, so you get to watch sailboats and pontoons riding out of the marina (last seen here) and out into the waves of the ocean. And there are tons of carnival games and rides at the Boardwalk to excite kids and adults alike. But one of my favorite things to do there is to grab dinner right on the water and watch the colors of sunset change over the course of your meal.

Kemah is only a 20 minute drive from Clearlake, TX or a 45 minute drive from downtown Houston. So it’s a great way to get right on the water without driving all the way down south to Galveston.

A little fun fact, on my very first tour at NASA Johnson Space Center (circa 2010), my mom and I ate at the Flying Dutchman at the Kemah Boardwalk and it was one of my very first and favorite meals we had! There’s always some delicious new seafood to try when on the coast!

You can check a full list of restaurants at the boardwalk here if you are interested. But there are tons of options to choose from, and sometimes it’s more fun to just walk around and choose once you get there!

For a nautical dinner outfit, I paired a striped silk top with my favorite yellow pleated skirt from summer (last seen here). The look felt dressy enough for dinner on the docks while remaining perfectly breezy and cool enough for dining outside in the Houston heat.

For some dressier touches, I added a leather studded clutch, a sparkly bracelet, and a polished black leather watch.

The wonderful thing about Kemah Boardwalk is that you can make an entire night of the area–dinner on the docks, followed by a walk along the boardwalk, ending with a game or two of darts or skee ball at the carnival. I love that! No need to move the car or spend time traveling between places. It’s a one stop spot for a fun weekend along the coast!
