Summer 10×10 Outfit 7

Hi friends and welcome to Day 7 of the Summer 10×10 Challenge! Can you believe how fast this challenge has been flying by! Only 3 more days to go!

Today I challenged myself to style my favorite floral top with pants and I loved how the combination turned out! So let’s get right into, shall we?

So you guys are probably getting sick of me saying how much I love this top (previously styled here and here), but it’s just that good! Seriously though…this floral print is just the prettiest! It’s actually done in a collaboration between J.Crew x Liberty London, the latter of which is a London-based company that specializes in making beautiful fabrics and prints. J. Crew actually debuts a few new printed pieces each season, and I just picked up this springy dress for The Blog Society Conference I’ll be attending in a few weeks in Chicago.

On a semi-related note, I was walking through Anthropologie the other day and discovered that they too have a new collaboration with Liberty London in the home department. I mean how cute are these little floral mugs and plates?! If I could have an entire place setting in these pretty floral print dishes, I would!

Ok, thanks for indulging me in that teeny aside! Now back to today’s outfit!Summer 10x10 Challenge Outfit 7 | www.cupcakesandthecosmos.com

I paired this favorite floral top of mine with these high-waisted, wide-leg pants and ended up loving the look just as much as when I had paired the top with the pencil skirt here. How fascinating! At the time, I had thought there was no getting better than this look. But it turns out, it’s definitely possible! In fact, these pants cinched me in at the waist, much like the pencil skirt, but with the added benefit of lengthening my legs even more.

There something about the higher waist paired with the cropped length that gives the illusion of legs for days. I think it comes down to the little bit of ankle showing, paired with the open cut of this sandal making my legs look really long. For instance, if I had worn a sandal that cut across my ankle, the leg lengthening aspect wouldn’t be there. At any rate, I’m taking note of this little pairing so that I can try it out in other outfits this summer and fall! Long leg, high-waisted, cropped pants with an open ankle sandal!

For a pop of color to the outfit, I layered on a bright yellow purse to make it feel extra summery. Yellow is just one of those colors that can pair with anything and instantly brightens the look. (That’s actually why I chose to include a yellow cardigan in my 10×10 picks!)Summer 10x10 Challenge Outfit 7 | www.cupcakesandthecosmos.com

For a warmer layer at the office, I chose to wear this purple cardigan over top. I love how it made the look feel subtly more feminine without sacrificing on brightness. Plus, I brought out the yellow sweater a lot last week…so it’s only right to give the purple one a little more love this week!

And for accessories, I added on a pretty floral bracelet (last seen here) that complimented the floral pattern of the top perfectly. No necklace was necessary since the top has a beautiful ruffly neckline that can be worn open or closed, depending on your preferences!
