LIFE SERIES The Little Things

The Little Things

Well friends, it’s starting to feel like spring around these parts and I couldn’t be more ready for it! Warm sunny days, beautiful blooming flowers, and wearing all the pretty blush pinks and pastel purples my heart desires–just a few of my favorite things right now. As happened this time last year, spring brings with it an impromptu trip the Denver Zoo, and that is exactly what we did this past weekend. After hearing about Dobby the giraffe being born, we just knew it was time to visit for the year! And while we didn’t end up seeing baby Dobby this time around, we did get to watch baby Whimsie and her mom eating lunch together, which was a special treat since we saw her just after birth last year. Plus, any day spent outside on a beautiful sunny afternoon is a win in my book!

We also tried a couple new places to eat in Denver and Boulder, including an ah-mazing ice cream place and a delicious sandwich shop (that we know from the Farmers Market). We even squeezed in a trip to our favorite chocolate shop here in Boulder, where we saw the cutest little ladybug chocolates (below).

As for this weekend, Allen and I will be heading out of town on a cabin getaway–a much needed albeit delayed Valentine’s retreat. I know, I know…it’s March! Let me explain. On our first Valentine’s Day, Allen and I had the most magical time camping in Texas. It was beyond perfect there and I thought it would be fun to recreate that type of experience for us this year. However, while Spring is well on its way, the mountains are still very cold and snow-covered and camping just isn’t a viable comfortable option right now. So I did a little research and found us the perfect little cabin in Crested Butte, tucked neatly into the side of a mountain and right on the edge of the Gunnison National Forest (read: snowshoeing opportunity!!). At any rate, the cabin wasn’t available until this weekend, so we postponed our getaway until now! I’m just so over the moon excited about getting back into the mountains and out of cell service for a couple days. Do you ever just want need to get away?! At any rate, I’m ready for you nature! I’ll share more of our adventures once we get back, but until then here are a few of the little things that brightened my week!
