Spring Fashion STYLE

Styling Ruffles for Work

A few weeks ago, I talked about my go-to casual Friday uniform and how I’m incorporating updated classics into my wardrobe. Today I’m sharing an updated work wear look that incorporates my latest spring obsession–ruffles!–and how to style them for the office.

Ruffles and bell sleeves–two trends you will be seeing a lot of this spring. And while I’m not one to advocate jumping on the band wagon for every trend, I do think incorporating hints of those that you love is a good way to not only express your personal style but a fun way to experiment with new ones too!

I feel like a lot of people use work as an excuse not to express their personal style. Work is after all, stiff and monotonous right? Wrong! Just because the work place can seem to be more conservative than other places doesn’t mean you can’t express your style there!

For me, my work style does tend to be a bit more conservative than my “outside work” style, but I still manage to find creative ways of infusing my personality into my outfits. Like finding pieces that are both on trend and work appropriate.

I love that this top is structured and professional for work but has a girly ruffle detail that makes it feel more like my style than a traditional button up. Not so stiff when there’s a ruffle detail involved! (P.S. – Thinking I need this ruffly skirt for the office too…and maybe this blazer. Thoughts?!)

I paired the ruffly top with these sailor button pants (last seen here). The gold button details are everything and completely elevate the pants in my opinion. I also love that they are high-waisted and wide-legged. Both trendy styles that are still appropriate in more professional settings!

For jewelry I added on a dual tortoise-sparkle bracelet and a classic gold watch. To match the gold accessories I paired my fun, flirty gold bow pumps with the look. I love that these open-toed pumps are hidden by my pant legs except when I walk–like a little peak of flirtyness without being over the top. The perfect balance of my style with the conservativeness of the office. Don’t you think?

And that’s how I add simple trendy touches to my work wear outfit to make it feel more like me while still being professional.
