Bucket Lists Holiday LIFE SERIES

Winter Bucket List

With the start of December last week, I am officially in the mood for all things winter and holiday. Between sipping hot cocoa and watching cheesy Hallmark movies (my favorite!) or going ice skating on a frozen pond, I can’t wait for all the traditional cold weather festivities to begin. And while I have to get through a couple weeks of final exams and projects before I can truly celebrate the season, you can bet I will be in full Christmas mode after that! So today I’m sharing my Winter Bucket list with you as I’m looking forward to doing all of my favorite things very soon!

1. Go ice skating.

Can you believe I’ve never been ice skating in my entire life?! I know…right? I had a pretty serious roller skating accident when I was in elementary school and really haven’t gotten on skates since then. But I’m thinking this year is the year to pick it up again! (If even just for a night 😛 ) Being in Colorado, I’m hoping we can find a pretty frozen lake or pond to skate on!

2. Bake/Eat Christmas cookies.

My Aunt Michelle makes THE best Christmas cookies you’ve ever tasted. I made them once for Halloween (they are that good!), but haven’t made them in a couple years. I’d love to try making them again this season. They have the most amazing almond flavor and the tastiest sugar icing. Yummm!

3. Have a Hallmark Christmas movie marathon with hot cocoa.

So if you don’t know me, I’m obsessed with Hallmark Christmas movies. Obsessed. They are just the cheesiest, most fun movies out there at Christmas time, in my opinion. I even just love having them on in the background while I’m at home. My favorites are Let it Snow, Christmas Under Wraps, and A Royal Christmas, but I also can’t wait to see all the new ones out this year too! Do you have any favorites I shouldn’t miss this year?

4. Wear something glitzy to a holiday party.

With the holidays come lots of sparkle and shine, and I can’t wait to pull out my glitzy party wear for get-togethers with friends this season. Allen and I are planning to go to his company’s fancy Christmas party this year (it sounds so grown up haha!), and I already can’t wait to see all his work friends again! We’ve also got plans to attend an ugly sweater party as well. In addition, my family has an annual Christmas party with lots of homemade food and holiday cheer that I’m getting home for just in time. I can’t wait!!

5. Donate something anonymously.

In the true spirit of Christmas, I’d like to make a donation to a charity or cause that speaks to my heart. Because what else, if not giving, is the season all about?

6. Go skiing on a new mountain.

I can’t wait to go skiing on a new mountain this season! Allen and I have gotten the Epic Local pass the past two years and have loved it! We’ve went to Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, and Park City last year, and we’re hoping to try out Vail, Keystone, and Whistler this year in addition to our usual favorites. Have any other recommendations for us?

7. Make a snow angel.

The little girl in me always wants to make a snow angle when it snows. If I do nothing else on my list this season, this is the one that I have to do!

8. Attend a holiday musical or ballet.

When I was a little girl, I was in the Nutcracker Ballet (for 5 years!), and so Holiday ballets and musicals hold a special place in my heart. I’m really really hoping we can make it to a showing (or two) this Christmas. I love dressing up and going out to the theater. It feels so proper and special!

9. Take a sleepy mountain getaway.

Living in Colorado has meant that we are that much closer to exploring the great outdoors. I can’t wait to take a sleepy mountain getaway into the Rockies with Allen this winter–cozy up by the fire with a glass of wine, fuzzy socks, and nowhere else in the world to be. Sounds so peaceful and relaxing, doesn’t it? And I’ll probably NEED it after finals hit…

10. Look at holiday lights.

I LOVE holiday lights. They seriously make me so, so happy! Maybe it’s the space enthusiast in me, but they remind me of the twinkling stars at night and are just so beautiful. Whether it’s driving around town with my parents on Christmas Eve night, or maybe making it out to holiday lights at the Denver Zoo, I can’t wait to be surrounded by thousands and thousands of Christmas lights this season.

What about you? What’s on your holiday bucket list this year?
