Happy Thursday, friends! I don’t know about you, but I’m so excited for the long weekend! I’m headed back to Tulsa to celebrate my birthday early with family and I couldn’t be more excited to see everyone and start the summer off right with good eats, pool time, and lots of laughs.
One of my favorite new trends this summer is bell sleeves. To me, bell sleeves are the peplum cut of sleeves–they add the perfect amount of flirty-ness to your outfit and give it that fun, playful feeling. Perfect for the summertime months!
As I’ve mentioned before, stripes have become a neutral print for me–they go with just about anything you pair them with. So when I saw this bell sleeve top in the cutest stripe pattern, I knew it was finally time to try the trend out for myself.
This bell sleeve top in particular is slightly cropped, which makes it a fun length for summer. But I also love that you don’t have to wear it as a crop top if you pair it with higher waisted jeans or a skirt.
In fact, I ended up loving this top so much that I found a slightly different variation at J. Crew here and scooped it up when it went on sale too. I could see myself wearing this black stripe version with white shorts and red sunglasses for a weekend BBQ this summer for sure.
To keep the look classic yet fresh, I paired the bell sleeves with dark denim flares, oversized sunglasses, and a bright red fringe purse. Don’t you just love the energy a simple pop of red can add to an outfit?!
For jewelry, I kept things simple with a few gold bangles. In the future I might add a simple gold necklace to the mix as well!
I’m fairly new to the flare trend (last seen here), so I’ve had to experiment with the height of shoes I can wear with them. For flares, you definitely want to pair them with a heel or wedge to take full advantage of their leg lengthening (mystical) powers. For summer, I love the way these strappy wedges look and they are super comfortable too! The light tan color goes with just about everything too–which you know is a must for me.
At any rate, I’m in love with the new bell sleeve trend and this is just one of the many ways you can style them. So don’t be surprised if you see more of these fun and flirty sleeves on me all summer long!
